Research
Model Debt is an emerging framework. We are actively developing and validating the assessment methodology through research and real-world application.
Help us develop and validate Model Debt
We are inviting a small number of organizations to participate in the first Model Debt assessments.
Participating organizations receive a confidential Model Debt assessment and a written findings report at no charge. Organization-specific results remain confidential. Anonymized results will be used for research, validation, and continued development of the framework.
Current methodology
The current assessment begins with consequential decisions delegated to systems or external providers. It inventories those decisions and asks a practical recoverability question: could this specific decision be made again, by someone available to the organization, to the required standard?
The assessment then examines the evidence supporting recoverability and the severity of the exposure if the organization needs the decision back. The result is a provisional Model Debt Rating.
The methodology is still being developed and validated. Pilot assessments are intended to test whether it can be applied consistently, identify where it needs refinement, and improve the evidence required for meaningful comparisons over time.
